Welcome to the homepage
of the 37th Kingswood Drum & Bugle Corp. |
| |
| The 37th Kingswood Drum & Bugle Corp provides a
two tier structure for a younger element that feeds into
the senior part of the organisation. The Cadet Corps provides
opportunities for children aged between 8 – 14 years
of age to learn a musical instrument and march a yearly
show on a competitive circuit. This is the first stage
for learning the basic rudiments and techniques on either
percussion or brass instruments. Those who wish to participate
in the performing arts of the show, have the opportunity
to become a member of the Colour Guard (Dance Troop). |
 |
The transition from Cadet to Senior Corps starts around
the age of 14 and members can then participate up to the
age of 25. Throughout the activity we concentrate on providing
a fun activity, while at the same time being able to enhance
musical education in particular musical fields. Members,
who have been successful and have taken the opportunity
to audition in the United States, have performed with
some of the top Drum Corps on Drum Corps International
Circuit (DCI).
|
 |
This is a summer activity which starts in
the winter months with learning the new music for the
yearly performance, and includes multiple competitions
and performances. This timetable of events is designed
to accommodate people who work and have extra studies
to complete. Both the Drum & Bugle Corps and the Cadet
Corps compete on the Drum Corps United Kingdom Circuit
(DCUK) which concludes with a Finals performance in early
October. |
The benefits to our members are second to none in terms
of achievements and the success of the organisation has
provided opportunities for members to travel on the international
scene. The role of honour speaks for it’s self in
terms of achievements and success to the extent of the
assistance to smaller organisations, which is encouraged
in the development of teaching and instructional standards.
The Corp is dedicated to success within performing arts
and will continue to provide a learning and educational
environment for many years to come. |

Mission
Statment:
Music and the performing arts connect youth with their culture
through a common language crossing generational, social, and
racial barriers. The activity that a young person pursues influences
the type of person he or she becomes. The experience that comes
with participation in a performing arts organization builds
discipline, character, pride, and self-confidence at a crucial
age and forms the springboard to even greater achievements in
adult hood. The 37th Kingswood ‘Parents' Association performing
arts programs permanently enrich the lives of young people through
a commitment to youth development and performance excellence
while providing enjoyment for our local community and audiences.
