Kevin has been involved
in the activity since 1972. He started as a snare drummer in the
1st Tewkesbury Boys Brigade until 1979 where he then joined the
Army in August at the Infantry Junior Leaders Battalion Shorncliffe.
Kevin has had a remarkable career in the Irish Guards and has
seen active service in Northern Ireland and the Balkans. In his
25 years served, he finally retired at the rank of WO1 Regimental
Sergeant Major, Army School of Ceremonial. During his service
he still kept in touch with the activity and in 1982 whilst posted
in London marched with Crawley Vanguard in the snare line. During
his time at Crawley he worked with the great Glen and Val Carter
from Blue Eagles within visual design and the early stages of
the Winter Guard activity. Kevin is well travelled on the band
circuit and has worked within the DCUK, BYBA and TYMBA environments.
He has taught with numerous organisations such as the 13th Bromley
BB (Pacemakers), Saxon Shadows, Romford RBL and of course the
37th Kingswood Scouts. Since retiring from the Army in 2003, Kevin
has started work with the NHS as an IT Project Manager which has
provided the opportunity to gain much experience in the business
world. Kevin has gained many awards during his career academically
and during his services in the Forces. In October 2000 he was
awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and on completion of service
was made a member of the Royal Household. This is Kevin’s
second year as the Corp Director at 37th in which he is focussed
on the long term plans for the organisation in providing an educational
and development activity for the members who participate in the
Corps.
