Kent marched in
the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps quad line (Dubuque, Iowa, U.S.)
1996 through 1999, serving as section leader and winning the peer-awarded
"Percussion Section Member of the Year" honour in 1999.
In 2000, Kent began serving on the percussion staff of the Colts.
He served full time on the percussion staff through 2005, and
he will be on the road as the quad tech part-time in 2006, under
the direction of Nick Angelis. He is also the quad tech for Gateway
Percussion (2005-present). Gateway is a WGI Independent World
Class Finalist (2005), and is from St. Louis, Missouri, United
States. Kent is an international percussion consultant, |

serving in this capacity in 2004 and 2005
for the 37th Kingswood Drum and Bugle Corps, Bristol, England.
He is also the visual designer for the corps. He writes
with the latest Pyware 3D Java software.
Kent has taught several high school and college drum lines
in Missouri. He served as the "drum line technician"
for one year with the Central Missouri State University
drum line and served as the primary battery instructor and
a co-arranger with Dr. Mike Bump for the Truman State University
drum line from 1999 to 2003. He also arranged the music
and designed the visual package for the TSU PASIC drum line
in 2000. He has judged both visual and percussion captions
for high school band contests in Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois,
and he writes drill for high school marching bands and drum
and bugle corps. He is an alumnus of Jefferson City High
School. He holds both a BA and MA in English from Truman
State University, as well as certification to teach Language
Arts in grades 9-12. Kent is on the Vic Firth Education
Team as a Marching Percussion Specialist. Kent is currently
employed by Palen Music Centre, in Columbia, Missouri, United
States. He teaches a private percussion studio, including
rudimental percussion and drum set. He is in the process
of starting a "Percussion Academy" with a few
other teachers in the area, which will be offered at Palen
and will include instruction in keyboard percussion, rudimental
percussion, and drum set.
