Guard Caption Head

Vicki's colour guard career started in 1995 with Spirit of Bristol Drum & Bugle corps using only pom pom's and flags. In 1997 Vicki joined the 37th Kingswood Cadets where she marched for 2 years before moving into the senior corps in 1999. Vicki was a member of the unbeaten guard within the BYBA circuit in 1999 and continued to march with the 37th until 2003.

Vicki then went on to march with Pride of Bristol WG in 2004 before joining Cadence  Drum & Bugle Corps for the summer season going onto win High Guard at DCUK  finals. While taking a year out from marching, Vicki taught local guards such as the Buttercups and NOVO in 2005 before joining Mayflower's highly respected World Guard. Mayflower went on to win the WGUK Championship with an unbeaten season, winning all captions at Finals.

Vicki is an experienced  member to colour guard having performed many guard shows using flag, rifle  and sabre competing at the highest level of the British circuit in  WinterGuard and DCUK. Vicki is very excited to be back with the 37th and is  looking forward to working with the guard and the new staff for the 2006 season.

Guard Staff

Katy has joined the 2006 Kingswood guard staff and brings with her a vast amount of experience to the section.  It is clear that Katy is passionate about the activity and has motivational skills to push the guard to a new level.  We welcome Katy and hope she enjoys her time with the Corps in the coming season.  This is Katy’s background:

'I've always been in the guard starting with the New Surrey Raiders in 1986 when I was 11 (yes I really am that old!).  I'm a loyal kinda gal and stayed with Raiders up until and including when they merged with Cadence in 1997.  Cadence was my corps until I aged out in 2000.  As well as marching summer season I have performed on the winter guard Circuit with Raiders, Golden Garrison and Cadence.

I started teaching cadet guard at the tender age of 13 and have always had an input into show writing for whichever senior corps I was with.  Since ageing out I have been Guard Caption Head for Cadence and also Basingstoke Cavaliers for their very first season in DCUK.  I took a year out to put all that jumping around to music to a good use (and get paid) and became qualified as an aerobics instructor.  I'm still involved with teaching the Reading branch of Cadence Cadets and love anything to do with dancing.

I'm really pleased to be working with a guard with so much potential and an eagerness to learn this year.  I know that with the staff and members we have this year together we can go a long way.'
